An actual conversation with a friend (not a client) that I thought was interesting:
Friend: I’m am so tired of struggling with my weight.
Me: So, what if you let go of the struggle?
Friend: Well, I’d be happier for sure. I’d also be excited and ready to do the things that I’ve been putting off.
Me: So, why not start there?
Friend: What?
Me: Why don’t you start finding out how to be happier now? Why not start doing those things now?
Friend: Because, I need to get this weight off first.
Me: Is that true? Is it true that the weight loss will make you happy? Is it true that you can’t do those things until you lose weight?
Friend: Well…(long pause), not necessarily.
Me: So, why not try something different? Why not start creating your own happiness and doing the things you’ve been putting off?
Friend: Hum. I never thought about doing that.
Isn’t it fascinating how make our weight the middle man for happiness and joy? (And, it’s not just weight. It can also be money, a man, or a job.)
Isn’t it interesting how we create the negative energy that sabotages our weight loss efforts in hopes of losing weight?
While a holistic weight loss approach is about more than just creating happiness, it’s a great place to start.
As Abraham Hicks says, “There is never a happy ending to a unhappy journey.”
FYI, my friend has since lost ten pounds just by figuring out how to become more happy and spending less time focused on the scale.
Are you putting off your happiness?

Such a simple thought – so well expressed.
Love this, and a conversation I believe we have all had once or twice before.
Hey Michelle-
Yes, I think we’ve all had this conversation in one form or another, whether it’s money, a man, job or our weight. Learning to skip the middle man and create the feeling we’re after is like magic voo-doo potion!
Thanks Michael!
